Tesla CEO Elon Musk is adding another feature to the upcoming version 9 software update: a ‘fade mode’ for a minimalist look with only essential info, like speed, displayed on the screens.
We are starting to get a better idea of Tesla’s upcoming version 9 software update following the leak of an early build earlier this week.
It showed that the biggest change to date in the update is a new UI that is harmonizing the onboard experience in the Model S and Model X with the one in the Model 3.
While not in the alpha build, there are also tons of other features that Musk promised to release with the major software update and the CEO has now confirmed another feature after a Twitter user made a suggestion:
Will add a fade mode with only essential info

It sounds like Tesla is working on a mode that would black out the screens for a more minimalist user interface that would only show “essential information”, like speed.
Earlier this week, Elon Musk said that Tesla now aims to release version 9 software update ‘toward end of the month’ after an early access program release in the next two weeks.
